Venetian Plaster with a Marble Effect
Venetian plaster is a high-end decorative finish that mimics the luxurious look of natural marble. It is applied in multiple thin layers using a trowel, creating a smooth, glossy, and slightly textured surface. The technique gives walls a deep, elegant shine with natural-looking veins and variations, just like real stone.
How It’s Made:
1. Surface Preparation – The wall is primed and prepped to ensure a smooth base.
2. Application of Plaster – A special plaster mix (usually containing lime, marble dust, and pigments) is applied in multiple thin layers using a steel trowel.
3. Sanding & Burnishing – Once the layers are dry, the surface is sanded and polished to achieve a high-gloss, marble-like effect. Some variations include adding hand-drawn veins for a more realistic stone appearance.
4. Sealing (Optional) – A wax or protective coat is applied for durability, making the surface water-resistant and easier to maintain.
